Ash Wednesday

Lord our God,
in our sin we have avoided your call.
Our love for you is like a morning cloud,
like the dew that goes away early.
Have mercy on us;
deliver us from judgement;
bind up our wounds and revive us;
in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Common Prayer

This is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. A time for reflection and renewing our devotion to God. A time to stop and take stock, and to listen a little more carefully to His voice. I was not brought up to observe Lent but since joining the Anglican church in 1996 it has become a treasured time for me, building up to the wonderful joy of Easter Sunday! This year I especially feel the need to think carefully and consider any changes that the Lord may be asking of me. After some thought I have decided to spend some more time reading. The book above by Joyce Hugget is one of the books I have chosen. The others are:

I'm not sure whether I will actually get through all these in 6 weeks but I'm going to try, and I hope to share a few nuggets with you along the way.

You go, Man!
I read a couple of books from Phillip Yancey. "What's so amazing about grace" made a lasting impression on me.
Maybe one day I will read this one.
I do a lot of reading, too.
Yes, let's fix our eyes on Jesus.

Leaning towards Easter sound very interesting. I might look it up on amazon.

I read A Thousand Splendid Sun last year. I bought it for my 18 year old daughter for Christmas telling her that this is a book every Western girl MUST read. She doesn't read very mush, but have read this one and right away asked for the Kite Runner.
