The Word became flesh and blood,
and moved into the neighborhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
the one-of-a-kind glory,
like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
true from start to finish.
John 1:14
Like Father, like Son. Jesus is the perfect revelation of God in all His fullness. A few days ago I was in discussion with a mormon on a street corner. He wanted me to accept that God had something more to say to me through Joseph Smith, that somehow Jesus wasn't enough. I said that God no longer had need for that type of prophet, that Jesus shows us perfectly the nature of God.
Then he asked me, Why do you believe the gospel?, and I'm glad he asked me because it made me think. Do you know what my answer is? I believe the gospel because I have met Jesus and in Him I find everything I need. He loves me, provides for me, leads me, speaks to me and so much more! When God becomes human flesh and says, Here I am!!!, what else do we need?

But I'm just being grumpy and don't mean any offense. God bless. Your blog is one of my favourites.

That's about as far as I got with him, but I asked him to think about it- to think about the living Word, or as the Spanish put it "El Verbo"- the Verb, the action word.
He still moves in our lives today.
Blessings on your day! You brighten mine.
PS Blogger s giving me troubles again so I have nothing to share at my site yet today. . . maybe later.
Godbless
I met Jesus, too, because I know he changed me when I met him first.
I tried posting twice and blogger didn't allow me to. So here's my third try. =)
I was reminded of a song, I'm sure it will bless you: He Promised Us

I am afraid to say that my 'answer' to the Mormon chap was very much in hindsight. I think I probably mumbled something about Jesus being the last word. Those that know me will know that I'm not good at coming up with a quick answer!!
In Him,

I "think quick on my feet" a lot better with a keyboard than face to face myself 8-/
Finally, and perhaps the thing that got me started making this comment: I always figured that with the Bible, we've got the history of man since the beginning and the foreshadowing of the Messiah (among many other things, of course) in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, we have the Gospel and Acts, the history of our Lord and his apostles, the letters to guide us, and the Revelation to show us what's coming. I don't see room for a third testament when the New Testament has not yet been completely fulfilled. That, and the fact that no one man received either the old or new testaments indicates to me there is something fishy with the thought of a third one. Not to mention the warnings that close out Revelation. And finally, I do accept that some have the gift of prophecy to this day, but we are instructed to test the prophecy against the Word...the Holy Bible as we know it.
Wow, what long comment. Sorry, bro. Anyway, thanks for your blogs. I really enjoy reading them and am grateful for the new-found cyber-friendship with you and others this past year.
