Question: What does Jesus actually mean when he says 'Come'?

My thinking is that people actually came to him (physically) when he said it. When they came he touched them and healed them.

Today I read those words and think it to be an invitation to pray and cast/unload all of my cares on him. When I do, I often experience a sense of healing.

What do you think it means Mike?

Thanks Bob. I agree with you. I guess the question comes from a frustration I sometimes have of not being able to receive the promise, even through prayer. Perhaps I am expecting instant results when it really means that a life of focus on Jesus will unburden us?

Your comment reminded of something that I left on a blog last week Mike. Here it is in part.

"Trusting for me has been a journey of letting go. On a Caribbean cruise over the Christmas holidays in 2002, with my wife laying on our bed in our stateroom paralyzed from the waist down, I heard God whisper to me about letting go of control of my life and allowing myself to simply flow with wherever life takes me. It has been so hard yet so necessary for me. Trusting is really never trusting when we are in control."

In some ways coming to Jesus is releasing control of our lives and the outcomes of our prayers. I am getting better at it but have a long ways to go. ツ
