Skywatch #68

Sveti Stefan, Montenegro, originally uploaded by duopastorale.

I have SO many amazing scenes from my recent holiday in Montenegro that I had great difficulty choosing just one for today. Everyone talks about Dubrovnik along this coastline. Fine, if you like outdoor tourist traps that rip you off at every street corner. I personally found Sveti Stefan just beautiful!! Originally it was a fishing village, but unfortunately the Montenegrin government has let it fall into the hands of a hotel chain who are taking over the whole island.

It really has been the most amazing summer of travel, and all on a shoestring. It's given me itchy feet, hence the 3rd template change since June. Sorry if I'm making you dizzy :)

Beautiful shot today, Mike! Thanks for stopping by my blog so I had a chance to visit yours. You said since I love rain in summer I'd love it there in London. The fact is...I DO love it there in London!

I spent three months there in 2003 studying through an American program at the University of London. It was the best time of my life!

In 2006 I took my husband there for a two-week vacation. He fell in love with it, too, and we long to return.

So yes, indeed, London is my kind of "town." :) Please visit my blog again as I hope to visit yours again.

I concur with the others. Very nice! Do people do a lot of fishing in these waters?

I hadn't thought of Montenegro in a while--since the last time I read one of Rex Stout's mysteries (his hero, Nero Wolfe, was from Montenegro). The photo is wonderful enough to serve as an advertisement to visit Sveti Stefan. Now, if I can ever get time off, this looks like a great place to visit, even with the hotel-chain takeover.
