The Promise

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him…Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him…do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
1 Corinthians 15:9-10, Psalm 37:7, Hebrews 10:35

'God is asking us to wait', said my pastor at our monthly prayer meeting, ‘but most of us find waiting for the bus difficult, let alone anything else!’. This got me thinking about God’s call to us to wait, especially at this time of Pentecost when we wait for the promise of the Father. Fortunately there is a huge difference between waiting for a bus and waiting for the Holy Spirit!

The huge and important difference is promise. God has promised to send us the Counsellor. We can trust in His unshakeable Word. But we must wait actively, and not put our feet up. The disciples waited expectantly in the upper room and sought the face of God in prayer. It wasn’t long before they had an amazing encounter with the Holy Spirit and were baptised in fire. Let’s wait, and not give up, for God will surely come to those who seek Him with all their hearts.

Waiting ~~ difficult in most every area of life, but what results and glory it can bring ~~ I'm reminded of the story of Lazarus and how the Lord waited 3 days before going ~~ why ~~ to show His glory. Waiting brings glory to God!!
Love this post today Pastor Mike, you are an inspiration.

Hi! Mike

Just caught up with all your posts and have to say Amen as always.

Have been watching Todd in Florida every night and getting to bed so late. I did pray that people will find Jesus and not just the healing. Todd himself is n ow beginning to say that too. My neighbour/friend opposite was part of Todd's team in India last year.
How wonderful it will be if the world catches the fire and passes it on. We need a mighty outpouring of the spirit across the earth.

Waiting - difficult for all of us.
I have a lovely poem about God saying Wait. I will have to post it sometime.

They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40 if I remember rightly. Verse 31, I,ve looked it up.

Oh no. Let us not give up. Let us not grow weary or doze off. Let us awaken with expectancy and anticipation. He came. He comes. He is coming. He will come.

I am encouraged! ~Suz.

Amen, Mike.

We need to receive the Spirit more and more daily since He is given to us without measure....that means more of His anointing, more of His character....Sid

i know i have to learn to be more patient. it's very difficult.
"The huge and important difference is promise." When waiting we fidget, squirm, and wiggle just like little children. When we are still is when the promise is fulfilled. That is when we can REALIZE it. The promise becomes OURS!!! Good Day and thank you,Mike! Cathy
