Green Pastures

He lets me lie down in green pastures
Psalm 23:2

Oh let me hear Thee speaking
In accents clear and still,
Above the storms of passion,
The murmurs of self-will,
Oh, speak to reassure me,
To hasten or control,
Oh, speak, and make me listen,
Thou Guardian of my soul

John E. Bode (1816-1874)

God speaks to us in many ways, but perhaps the most powerful way is when we are still before Him and that still small voice is able to whisper to us. Maybe that is because He desires an intimate relationship with us. He is jealous for us and longs for our company; just read the Song of Songs! Often though, in the midst of our busy lives we can forget this secret place that the Holy Spirit is drawing us into. We can become so full of the noise of our own Christian service or religious fervour that we forget how to be still and lie down in those green pastures and let Him restore us.

Sometimes he fills the green with colours, like he did for me this week-end (photos in my blog)

Wow, you are green today. I always enjoy your posts. This is a beautiful one.
Come to the quiet...not to the clamor. It IS hard to be quiet. But quiet we must be. Thank you for the lovely poem...it truly was grand!!! Cathy
This weekend I heard someone talking about how England has declined so much with Christians. You were the 1st I thought of - it's so wonderful to know someone there that follows the Father. :)

That is true, it is so easy to forget. Or to sit still, but not empty the noise inside.
pity, we can't all go and sit under that tree.
