Sunday Worship

Before the throne of God above, I have a strong and perfect plea....

No words can express my gratitude to God for the fact that all my sin is paid for on the cross and I am accepted as I am. What an amazing God we have. What love! So unsearchable and incomprehensible and heart wrenching. So unbelievable, yet I believe it!

I confess to having come through Christmas spiritually worn. It seems ironic that this is a Christian festival, but the trappings are far from Christian. I find the stress of preparation, buying the right present, getting ready for those special services, having routine disrupted, really takes its toll on my spiritual life. It happens every year. I fall away from the heart of God. But I am so grateful that the cross doesn't go away. That path back to Him is always open. The cross doesn't move. Hallelujah! I pray that we all find refuge and safety in His Presence today. Have a blessed Sunday.

Great song! It really touched me this morning. I have to agree the Christmas season can get overwhelming for me with buying presents for everyone. It causes me too much worry. But I was able to find refuge with God and I have felt His presence more strongly this year. And I tried to keep my mind on Him instead of all the craziness around me. And I found refuge. Thanks for a great post. Happy New Year!

Amen.

Your post reminds me of the song Amazing Grace.

I like the part in the video where it says "It's not a religion, it is a relationship." That, to me, is such a key point.

Great post, Mike.

Worthy is the Lamb!

I get so frustrated with all the busyness of Christmas...decorating, shopping, cleaning, wrapping, cooking, putting away decorations, returning gifts, etc. It seems there's a conspiracy sometimes. This brings it all in perspective.

Thank you Mike. I appreciate you, bro!

Yeah, the Christmas hubub and going here and yonder takes away from the spiritual reason. The old devil tries his best to take our eyes off Christ. The new year day can be done the same way taking our eyes off the Giver of life. We aren't promised tomorrow for we are mortal. Each day is a gift and should be cherished but instead I take it for granite. He gives eternal life and live my life like its drudgery. Pray that I live this new year and treat each day as a gift and everyone I meet as a sister and brother. Even those who are blinded by the devil. Let's pray for them and bear all suffering with praises to Him.
Amen means let it be so if I'm not mistaken. Well, amen, to your post in spreading the gospel.
Happy new year, my friend, may God bless all your endevears.

Dear brother Mike! Wishing you a wonderful new year, renewed strength, spirit and curiosity to enjoy His gifts. Easter is my favorite holiday and since Christ was born in September, I merely tolerate the huff n' puff of Christmas pressed upon us.
Happy New Year!

Yes I like that song too. Maybe you are just physically worn with all the preparations. You sound as spiritually on the ball as always to me. Don't let the enemy trick you with yur feelings.
You've really blessed me with this post. Its my favourite hymn and a gorgeous arrangement at that. The words are amazing and the celtic lilt in the music gets me every time.

I see you've updated your photo - I'd do the same but then my bald patches would show. Better not spoil the illusion of being young and handsome! ;-)

God bless and happy new year!

The busy business of the season isn't what Christmas is supposed to be. . . I mean, look at the humble stable, the animals, the shepherds as guests. One year our pastor had Christmas in July. We put up a tree with the Chrismons (symbols of faith in white and gold) on it and had a wonderful, meaningful service without all the other trappings of shopping and obligatory parties, etc. I suppose that is why I leave my tree up all year -- to remind me of the gift I didn't have to shop for!

As a fellow 'church musician' I can totally feel your pain with regards to how hectic this particular time of year is. There is much time and stress spent in not only the 'commerical' side of Christmas, but also the preparation for the various special events and church services. I sometimes wonder if I will ever be able to find at least some sort of middle ground. Thank you for your thoughts.
