Alpha & Omega

But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.
Matthew 2:6

Matthew is often known as the gospel for the Jewish people. He makes a point of frequently referring to the Old Testament prophecies to show that Jesus was the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets. This is precisely what Jesus said of himself; Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them. Matthew 5:17. It is a wonderful thing to realise that Jesus can be traced right back to Genesis; Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. John 1:3.

In the story of the road to Emmaus, we are told that, beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he [Jesus] explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself Luke 24:27. What an amazing and enlightening walk that must have been! Perhaps one day we will get to talk with those two disciples and realise more and more that the whole Bible is about one Person. The One who is Emmanuel, the Son of God, the Alpha and Omega.

Yes, that is pretty amazing!
I find the "journey" to Emmaus one of the most compelling for me in scripture. You see I can understand how those travelers must have felt every time I FINALLY get it...You know what I mean? I really love that story!!! I'm on a daily walk. Thanks, Mike.

I like seeing it this way: There was a round table conference in heaven- the Father, Son and the Spirit...the Father seeing that man would sin asks, _"Who will go for Us?"_. There was absolute silence...and then someone stood up: It was the Son! From that moment the Holy Spirit made an agreement, _"If You[Jesus] go, I will make sure to promote you"_. And thats what has happened from Genesis to Revelation...the Spirit promoting Jesus and glorifying Him...

And that is why we are to treat each person we meet like we would if that person was Jesus. I love how sidharth explained it in their comments also.

My favorite Christmas song is one which is an English/Celtic one. I know it only in Norwegian and it goes like - in a stable in Bethlehem God's word was born.

That's one walk I would have loved to take. Can you imagine having Jesus in person revealing himself through Scripture. Of course we have the Holy Spirit that leads us into all truth!.

Merry Christmas Mike!

Yes, that must have been something else having Jesus explain His own Word! One day all those who know Jesus as personal Savior will be able to sit at Jesus feet and listen... can't wait for that day!
