Apples of Gold

A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
Proverbs 25:11

I arrived at church for the evening service, parked my car and ran to the door with my coat over my head, protecting me from the blustry wind and rain. Once safe inside I glanced at my watch; "still half an hour to go before the service", I thought, "I'll pop down to the pre-service prayers". So down I ventured into our lovely chapel where all was peace and calm from the storm building up outside. There was just one other there. Jenny was sitting, leaning over her Bible, searching intently. Not to disturb her, I sat a few seats away and began to pray.

After a few moments of quiet with the gentle rustling of pages, Jenny leant across to me, her face lit up with a huge smile. "Don't you just love this verse", she said, "listen; 'a word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver' ". I must confess I've never sat down and searched through Proverbs for gems like that. "There's a lady that loves her Bible", I thought.

I love Proverbs. When I am down I go to Proverbs.

So glad to hear of people eager to be in God's house to get there early. So many wait until 1 minute before or 2 minutes after.

Love that verse. There's nothing like searching the Scriptures, God's love letter to us :)

Here's one that jumped out at me today: The LORD has appeared of old to me saying: "Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you." Jeremiah 31:3

I love the Bible, it contains so much and I appreciate every word. To know that it was written of each of us is so overwhelming to me sometimes all I can do is bow my head and say "thank you, Lord." Have a very good week. connie from Texas

Coincidence? A decade ago at a christian bookstore I purchased this boxed book of a collection of quotes or sayings. The title of the book is APPLES OF GOLD. This week, I took it off its place on the shelf and read it again as some tv guys are installing the cable. I love the proverb.

That verse is so good. It is my prayer that may speak the right words at the right moment. And the picture is so beautiful i have to snatch it to post it on my blog, giving the right credits of course.

A good cover for a wedding invitation.

I like your exhortation mike. Please pray for me I have to deal with some very rude and uncooperative bank officials, may the angels help me.
Mike-

Mike, I love the verse and loved that you noticed the lady who loved the Word! What a great encouragement.
BTW: I once heard a speaker say that he reads one chapter of Proverbs daily so that each month he reads this book. I also heard a professor say that it is the only Business Ethics textbook needed. How true!

Sometimes LOVE is hidden in places we don't imagine. Great
Leaves one speechless doesn't it? What else can be said? And speechless is good because then we can LISTEN. Thank you ever so much!
