I have been thinking a little about foundations. Selwyn Hughes says, '...the best time to find out if your house is built on firm foundations is not during a storm.' However, this is usually the very time we do discover! If you're anything like me, there is a great temptation to always take the quick and easy way.

In La Vie en Rose, Edith Piaf resorts to the quick fixes of drugs and alcohol which soon take their toll and ultimately her life at age 48. In the film, at the end of her life, Edith is asked 3 times what advice she would give to a young girl. She answers 3 times with the same word: love. That reminded me of another story in the Bible where the word love was repeated three times to the same question. This is perhaps the best foundation to build upon.
